Dear friends,

What a pleasure it was to see each other again, at the end of August, in Jonquière, during the meeting of the Association des Forest d'Amérique, the AFA. It was also an opportunity to meet a group of Acadian descendants concerned about maintaining their traditions and to visit the small white house that survived the 1996 flood. Thanks to Pierre Forest, his wife Carmen, and his collaborators for the organization of it. This meeting was an opportunity to reflect on the continuity of the AFA, and on its methods of communication with the members. Some election decisions:
-Abandonment of the website https://famillesforest.org in March 2024, unless a new webmaster is found by then.
-Maintenance of the publication of the newsletter twice a year. Johanne Forest Lépine, newsletter editor, needs your texts: genealogical research, anecdotes, short biographies, etc.
-Maintenance of the public Facebook group: Forest Families of America, page open to Facebook users.
-Opening of a private Facebook group: AFAFAMILLES.ORG a private page reserved for members of this group to facilitate exchanges between AFA members and quickly share news. Pierre Forest, administrator of this group, will be happy to accept you.

The next meeting of the AFA will take place in August 2024, in Nova Scotia, at the same time as the Canadian World Congress. Danielle Peddle, Gaétan Forest and Francine LeFort accepted the organization of this one. Emy Thomas Forrest took steps for a guided tour of a few days of the surrounding Acadian sites. Further information will be provided to you on these activities.
